เส้นใยจากธรรมชาติคือเส้นใยที่ผลิตจากวัตถุดิบที่มีอยู่ในธรรมชาติ แบ่งได้เป็น 3 ชนิด คือเส้นใยจากพืช เส้นใยจากสัตว์ และเส้นใยจากสินแร่ ซึ่งในแต่ละชนิดต่างมีคุณสมบัติที่แตกต่างกันไป เส้นใยธรรมชาติที่นิยมนำมาใช้ในการผลิตเครื่องนุ่งห่มมีหลักๆดังนี้

เส้นใยฝ้าย Cotton

เป็นผ้าที่ได้จากเส้นใยธรรมชาติจากฝ้าย มีคุณสมบัติที่โดดเด่นคือสามารถระบายอากาศได้ดี นิ่มและทนต่อแสงแดดและความร้อนได้ดี สามารถดูแลรักษาได้ง่าย

Cotton fabric is made from plant fibers from the cotton plant. Cotton is primarily composed of cellulose, an insoluble organic compound crucial to plant structure, and is a soft and fluffy material. Cotton fabric is soft and durable and often used to make t-shirts and undergarments. Some examples of different types of cotton fabric are organic cotton, denim, and canvas.

เป็นผ้าที่ได้จากเส้นใยธรรมชาติจากสัตว์ จุดเด่นของผ้าชนิดนี้คือความมันเงา นิ่มและได้ผิวสัมผัสที่อ่อนโยน ข้อด้อยของผ้าไหมคือไม่ทนแสงแดด ค่อนข้างเปราะบางเเละดูเเลรักษายาก

Silk is a natural fiber produced by insects as a material for their nests and cocoons. The most common type of silk is made by silkworms. Silk is made primarily of a protein called fibroin and is known for its shine and softness as a material.

เส้นใยลินิน Linen

เป็นผ้าที่ได้จากเส้นใยธรรมชาติจากพืชเช่นเดียวกับฝ้าย แต่มีข้อแตกต่างกันอยู่นิดหน่อยคือลินินจะแข็งและดูดซับน้ำได้ดีกว่าฝ้าย แต่จะไม่ยืดหยุ่นเท่ากับฝ้าย การดูแลรักษาคล้ายกันผ้าลินินจะยับง่ายกว่าจึงควรใช้การม้วนเก็บมากกว่าการพับเพื่อให้เส้นใยไม่เกิดการหัก

Linen fabric is a strong, lightweight fabric  made from the flax plant. Linen is naturally hypoallergenic and is very breathable, making it a great textile for warm weather clothes.

เส้นใยขนสัตว์ Wool

เป็นผ้าที่ทำมาจากขนของสัตว์เช่น แกะ เฟอร์ กระต่าย เป็นต้น มักให้ความอบอุ่นในการสวมใส่ ดูดซึมได้ดี มีความเหนียวทนทาน เหมาะกับการนำมาทำเสื้อผ้าสำหรับฤดูหนาว การดูแลรักษา ถ้ามีรอบเปื้อนให้รีบใช้แปรงแปรงออกโดยเร็ว โดยห้ามแปรงตอนผ้าเปียกให้แปรงตอนแห้งเท่านั้น

Wool is a textile from the hair of sheep, goats, alpacas, llamas, and other animals. Different wool fabrics include cashmere, angora, mohair, and more. Wool is a very warm, absorbent, and durable fiber. It is water-resistant, thanks to the lanolin oils from the animals, and it is generally used to make outerwear and cold weather clothes like sweaters and coats.

วิสโคสเรยอน Viscose Rayon

ผ้าวิสโคสเรยอนไม่ได้ผลิตมาจากเส้นใยสังเคราะห์สารเคมี  แต่ผลิตมาจากเปลือกไม้โดยได้ผ่านกระบวนการทางเคมี ถักทอจนเกิดเป็นผืนขึ้น เรยอนยังคงมีคุณสมบัติที่เหมือนกับผ้าเส้นใยธรรมชาติ คือเนื้อผ้านุ่ม มันเงา สามารถระบายความร้อนได้ดี บวกกับกระบวนการผลิตที่ช่วยลดต้นทุนการผลิต ทำให้ผ้าเรยอนมีราคาที่ย่อมเยาว์กว่าผ้าธรรมชาติทั่วไป และเป็นที่นิยมใช้ในตลาด

Viscose rayon is a semi-synthetic fiber made from reconstituted wood pulp. Even though rayon is made from plant fibers, it is considered semi-synthetic because of the chemicals, like sodium hydroxide and carbon disulfide, used in the production process. Rayon can be an imitation form of silk, wool, and other fabrics, and examples of rayon include modal, viscose, and lyocell.

TencelTM  เป็นชื่อทางการค้าที่จดทะเบียนของเส้นใยไลโอเซลส์ (TENCEL™ Lyocell) เป็นใยจากเซลลูโลสของการนำเปลือกไม้มาย่อยสลายและปั่นให้เป็นเส้นด้าย มักเลือกชนิดของต้นไม้จากไม้ที่โตเร็วเช่น ยูคาลิปตัส เป็นต้น เป็นอีกนวัตกรรมของวงการสิ่งทอล่าสุด การผลิตผ่านการรับรองกระบวนที่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม

All the TENCEL™ fabrics are made by dissolving plant fibers, commonly referred to as cellulose, mainly from trees. Exactly which trees have changed over time, and is still changing, but the most common mentions are hardwood trees that grow quickly - like poplar or eucalyptus. TENCEL™ Lyocell as a low-impact product that has minimal impact on the environment in production.
