Polyester

Polyester is a synthetic fabric made from plastic pellets. Its key advantages are high durability, wrinkle resistance, and much lower cost compared to natural fabrics. However, it has low moisture absorption and poor breathability.

Polyester is a synthetic fiber created from coal and petroleum. It’s known for its durability; however, the material is not breathable and doesn’t absorb liquids well, so it’s not recommended for warm weather.

Nylon

Nylon is generally not popular for clothing because it is not very comfortable to wear. However, if used for apparel, it is inexpensive. Nylon is more commonly used for making bags, umbrellas, and reusable nylon shopping bags. This is due to its excellent strength, high durability, wrinkle resistance, and good shape retention. It also resists mold and abrasion well.

Nylon is not widely used in clothing but is often found in products like bags, umbrellas, and "eco" shopping totes because it’s extremely durable, holds its shape, and resists mold and abrasion. It’s also more affordable than natural fabrics.

Spandex

Spandex fabric is a synthetic blend designed to have high elasticity. When stretched and released, it returns to its original shape. It is also lightweight and comfortable, making it a popular choice for activewear, swimwear, and even stretchable jeans.

Also known as Lycra or elastane, Spandex is a synthetic fiber characterized by its extreme elasticity. It is blended with other fibers to add stretch and is used for everything from jeans to athleisure to swimwear. Fun fact: “Spandex” is an anagram of the word “expands.”
